SAIL THROUGH PARIS!!! (VIRTUAL REALITY MATERIAL)
Today, I’m excited to share our (Mustafa, Samet, Abdulhamid) journey into creating an AR/VR material for English lessons. But first, let’s break it down—what’s AR/VR all about? Augmented Reality (AR) overlays digital elements onto the real world, like interactive maps or 3D objects, while Virtual Reality (VR) takes you into a fully immersive digital world through headsets or simulations. In language classes, AR/VR offers a dynamic way to practice real-life scenarios, like ordering food in a virtual restaurant or navigating a foreign city. However, accessibility can be a hurdle since not all schools or students have the required devices.
Our task was to create an AR/VR material, and we crafted something interactive and fun to engage students. We designed a lesson where students explore a virtual environment and answer questions based on videos, sites, and images we curated. The catch? Finding the right videos and resources was tricky! Crafting questions based on this material was another challenge, especially since we accidentally included questions unrelated to the provided content. But thanks to feedback from our teacher and brainstorming with friends, we revised those questions to focus on predictions and logical thinking.
For the tools, we used Microsoft Word for the outline (try it here), then transferred everything to Canva to create visually appealing slides (check Canva here). We used Google to source images and websites, and YouTube for videos (explore YouTube here).

This project pushed us out of our comfort zones, but it was worth it. AR/VR has so much potential to transform language learning! Would you use AR/VR in your classroom?
Fair winds!!
