FLIPPING THE CLASSROOM!! YOU NEED TO SEE OUR MASTERPIECE!?!

  Ahoy, Me Hearties!

Today, I’m sharing our adventure into creating a flipped classroom material for our English lessons. But first, what’s a flipped classroom, you ask? It’s a teaching approach where students learn the basics of a topic outside the classroom—through videos, readings, or other resources—and use class time for discussions, activities, and deeper learning. For language classes, this approach can be a game-changer! On the plus side, it gives students control over their learning pace, freeing up classroom time for practice and interaction. But on the flip side, not every student has access to the necessary tech, and some may need extra motivation to engage with the material outside class.

Our task was to create a flipped classroom video about the Past Continuous Tense—a core topic in English grammar. We divided the content into four sections: What is it?, positive forms, negative forms, and question forms. I handled the recording and editing for my part, and let me tell you—it wasn’t a walk in the park! I had to record my voice over and over until I was happy with it but I kept pushing through by improving each time, staying patient, and taking breaks to relax. I’m pretty sure my three teammates; Mustafa, Samet, Abdulhamid; faced similar difficulties, but we all made it together!

For the tools, we used Canva to create clean, visually engaging slides (check it out here). We then recorded the videos using OBS Studio, which is great for screen recording (download OBS here). To make it interactive, we added a Wordwall quiz to test students’ understanding of the lesson (try Wordwall here).

Oh. I was forgetting the most important thing. Here is the link to our video: The Masterpiece

and here is our lesson plan: Assure Lesson Plan

This project was definitely a challenge, but it was worth it. We hope our flipped classroom video helps students master the Past Continuous Tense!

Fair winds!!
